Eagle Men 14th, Women 24th At Midwest Regional Meet

Ashland University's cross country teams concluded their 2019 seasons on Saturday (Nov. 9) at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional at Southern Indiana.

The Eagle men finished the 10K in 14th place with 374 points. Grand Valley State won with 52 points, Michigan Tech was second (116) and Southern Indiana took third (134).

Senior Steven Kapes finished his season the way he ran all fall, ending in the No. 1 spot for the Eagles. Kapes was 17th overall individually in 32:02.3.

Junior Ian Johnson was 77th in a 10K PR of 33:46.8, junior Tyler Sievert was 87th in 34:01.6, freshman Lucas Lay was 93rd in 34:11.2, and sophomore Cody Booth finished 100th in 34:21.3.

Nick Reimund, another junior, was 126th (35:12.3), and junior Connor Ingram was 150th (10K PR of 35:52.3).

On the women's side, Ashland was 24th as a team in the 6K with 643 points. GVSU was first (40), Michigan Tech second (146) and Walsh third (155).

Sophomore Abby Moser was the top Eagle women's placer, finishing 55th in a new PR time of 22:30.1. Senior Johannah Stefanek was 90th in a PR of 23:05.2, freshman Emma Hinkle was 152nd in a PR of 24:33.2, freshman Hannah Ohman was 164th in a PR of 25:01.7, and junior Maureen McKeown was 182nd in 25:45.0.

Junior Tracy Morgan was 183rd in 25:50.3, while senior Haylee Zigan was 210th in 28:29.9.
