Following a 17th-place finish on Saturday (Nov. 9) at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional meet, Ashland University senior Steven Kapes earned all-region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday (Nov. 11) afternoon.
Kapes, the Eagles' No. 1 runner all season, crossed the finish line at Saturday's 10K race in 32:03.3. He becomes the 11th Ashland men's cross country runner this decade to earn USTFCCCA All-Midwest Region honors, and the first since Nick Hall in 2016.
A runner earns all-region status by being a top-25 placer at one of the eight regional sites this past weekend. Only athletes from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for this honor.
