Former Ashland University runner Zaan Janse is in his third season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Eagle cross country program.

At Ashland, Janse ran indoor and outdoor track (2011-13) and cross country (2013). He earned All-American honors in 2013 as a member of the seventh-place indoor distance medley relay team. Janse was a two-time member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team (one indoor, one outdoor), and was GLIAC All-Academic in 2013 in cross country.

Janse also played soccer as an Eagle, scoring two goals in eight games in 2012 and one goal in four games in 2011. Prior to coming to Ashland, he played 30 games over two seasons on Roanoke's men's soccer team, posting five goals and two assists, and ran indoor and outdoor track from 2008-10.

Prior to returning to campus, Janse was a volunteer cross country and track and field coach for Transylvania University from 2014-17.

Janse is a 2014 AU graduate.
