Eagles Fall To Pride on Sunday Afternoon

Purdue Northwest scored twice in the second half as the Ashland University men's soccer team fell to the Pride, 2-0, on Sunday (Sept. 23) afternoon in Hammond, Ind.

The Eagles (1-5-1, 0-3 GLIAC) and Pride (3-4-1, 1-3 GLIAC) played an even first half with neither team able to come up with a breakthrough.

The hosts took the lead just three minutes after halftime as Enrique Serna scored from the right side of the penalty area. The Pride's Jaime Garcia made it 2-0 with a goal in the 63rd minute.

The Eagles had two shots on goal in the last 10 minutes as they made a push forward, but were not able to beat keeper Raul Garrido-Garcia, who recorded the shutout.

Sophomore Dimitrius Karousos made his season debut in goal for the Eagles and stopped nine shots.

The Eagles will look for their first GLIAC win on Friday (Sept. 28) when they return to Ferguson Field. Kickoff against Northern Michigan is set for 7 p.m.
