Eagles Win Seventh Straight With Road Sweep of Parkside

The Ashland University volleyball team won its seventh straight match with a 25-10, 25-13, 25-15 road sweep of UW-Parkside on Saturday (Sept. 22) afternoon in Kenosha, Wis.

The Eagles (14-2, 7-0 GLIAC) stayed unbeaten in GLIAC play and stretched their lead in the GLIAC South to three games.

Ashland now has two seven-match winning streaks on the season after starting the year with seven wins in a row.

On Saturday, the Eagles were efficient offensively and stifling defensively. AU forced the Rangers (4-11, 2-5 GLIAC) to hit minus-.025 for the match and in the negatives in the first two sets.

Meanwhile, the Eagles had four players with at least eight kills and hit .311 overall.

Junior Sophi Cudworth led the Eagles with 11 kills (.625) against just one error, while adding four blocks. Junior Shelby Woycik tacked on 10 kills (.357) without committing a hitting error.

Senior Reanne Neal (.353) and freshman Erin Krupar (.069) had eight kills each with Neal adding a match-high five blocks. Krupar had a team-high 14 digs. Senior Kaitlin Bean and sophomore McKinley Smith had a dozen digs each.

Freshman setter Zoey Peck dished out 30 assists as she controlled the balanced distribution around the floor.

Lexie Calloway led the Rangers with nine kills and Ann Leo had a match-high 18 digs.  

The Eagles will return to Kates Gymnasium on Friday (Sept. 28) to take Northern Michigan at 7 p.m.
